Volunteer Spotlight on Renee Hamilton-McNealy

Each week we’ll be profiling one of our Super Bowl 50 Host Committee volunteers, learning a bit more about how and why they got involved with the Host Committee Volunteer Program.

This week our volunteer spotlight is on Renee Hamilton-McNealy from Fremont.

SB50: Why are you volunteering for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee?

RHM: The Bay Area has become my new home, since I relocated here from Florida in 2008.  I want to share the beauty of this new home with all who visit. I thrive off of connecting with people in the community, helping them enjoy themselves, and I love the honor of being a part of history in the making!

SB50: You volunteered with us at the 50 Tour, what was your favorite moment?

RHM: My favorite moment was from the Fremont Downtown Date Night event. A little kid, about 3-years-old, started chanting, “Raiders” and everyone else followed. Regardless of the team, it was beautiful seeing this young child not only enjoying himself, but having such a fun and positive ripple effect for tons of adults around. Everyone won’t be able to attend the actual Super Bowl, but the 50 Tour provided the opportunity for everyone around the Bay to chime in on the celebration before the big day.

SB50: To you, what makes Super Bowl gameday special?

RHM: Super Bowl gameday is great because it is a day that releases so much excitement! It is a day so many have prepared for and it is a stellar example of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition. Whether you are a sports fan or not, it’s an opportunity to have extra fun in the name of a major event!

SB50: Besides your volunteer work with us, how else are you involved in the community?

RHM: I volunteer as a Youth Law Education Facilitator with Fresh Lifelines for Youth; helping young girls learn about the law and empowering them to make healthy life choices. I also volunteer my makeup artistry skills from time to time to cancer survivors and patients. Finally, as am Army Reserve soldier, my soldiers and I volunteer reading to elementary students and continually seek opportunities to support our community.
