Each week we’ll be profiling one of our Super Bowl 50 Host Committee volunteers, learning a bit more about how and why they got involved with the Host Committee Volunteer Program.
This week our volunteer spotlight is on Dan Strauss from Fremont.
SB50: What do you think makes the Super Bowl special?
DS: It’s more than just a game; it’s the whole event and atmosphere around it. Now that I am volunteering with the Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, I’m really starting to find out what goes into planning a Super Bowl and how many people are needed to pull off an event of this scale.
SB50: Do you have a favorite Super Bowl memory?
DS: Yes, when the San Francisco 49ers played the Miami Dolphins at Stanford Stadium (Super Bowl XIX) that is still my favorite football game to date. The whole day was cold and dreary and we got together with all of our friends and saw the 49ers not only win the game, but also absolutely dominate the Dolphins. It was an overall great day.
SB50: Are you involved in the community in other ways?
DS: For the past 15 years I’ve been very involved with my temple. Recently I was president and I enjoy serving on committees that help plan fundraising events like our annual golf tournament. In addition, I am an active member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce.
