Volunteer Spotlight on Katey Nelson

Each week we’ll be profiling one of our Super Bowl 50 Host Committee volunteers, learning a bit more about how and why they got involved with the Host Committee Volunteer Program.

This week our volunteer spotlight is on Katey Nelson from Santa Rosa.

For Santa Rosa native, Katey Nelson, volunteering for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee is all about meeting new people and introducing them to the wonders of her home!

SB50: Why are you volunteering for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee?

KN: I love big events, and meeting all kinds of wonderful people! This is the best opportunity I’ve seen to get involved in the community, plus…I love football!

SB50: To you, what makes Super Bowl gameday  special?

KN: I love the massive amount of people that are involved in a production this size! The marketing and advertising side of the Super Bowl is what really gets me! The amount of hype and excitement around the game is fascinating, because the Super Bowl is one of the largest sporting events in the world, it’s powerful on so many levels!

SB50: Where is your favorite place in the Bay Area?

KN: Union Square at Christmas time! My family goes every year and the atmosphere is intoxicating, it’s such a special place with the tree and all of the festive lights!
