Each week we’ll be profiling one of our Super Bowl 50 Host Committee volunteers, learning a bit more about how and why they got involved with the Host Committee Volunteer Program.
This week our volunteer spotlight is on Morgan Fuller from Sunnyvale.
SB50: What got you involved volunteering for the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee?
MF: I love sports. I have been an athlete my entire life and I am currently in the process of making sports my career. This opportunity presented a great way to get involved in big-time sports, because the Super Bowl is actually in our own backyard! Everything about the Super Bowl is special, you get to meet people and hear Super Bowl stories…this is the opportunity of a lifetime.
SB50: What is your favorite Super Bowl tradition?
MF: Even though we aren’t able to get the whole family and all of our friends together anymore, we still manage to get a good group together to watch the game. It’s funny to remember that at our parties when I was little, the people who actually watched the game were always in one room, and the people who were more casual watchers and the kids were in another room, it definitely kept us from bothering the ‘hard core’ fans at the party!
SB50: To you, what makes the Super Bowl special?
MF: The Super Bowl is one of the few times where it doesn’t matter who’s playing. Most of the country and the world is watching this one game and it becomes the crowning moment for all of the athletes involved. The Super Bowl is special because it unites people all over the world through the power of sport.
SB50: What do you like most about the Bay Area?
MF: The Bay Area encompasses so many incredible things. Starting with San Francisco, the city is so vibrant and has an entire culture of its own. It has everything you could possibly want in one area. The biggest and brightest things happen here, there are great schools and great companies that feed into an overall atmosphere of success.
