The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee today announced that its mobile Super Bowl trophy exhibit, 50 Tour: “Champions of the Bay,” presented by Chevron reached 550,000 fans during its 28-day tour across the region. The exhibit visited 18 Bay Area cities in 11 counties and concluded with a stop in Sacramento at the State Capitol Building on November 23rd.
The 50 Tour was a mobile exhibit designed to celebrate the history of the Bay Area’s championship football teams and the region’s place in Super Bowl history. It was the first time the eight Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl Champion Lombardi Trophies have been presented together.
“We are incredibly humbled by the tremendous turnout that we received in each Bay Area city that the 50 Tour visited over the last three and half months,” said Host Committee CEO Keith Bruce. “It was a joy to hear fans share their Super Bowl memories and give them a chance to be up close with the Lombardi trophies from their cherished Bay Area teams.”
In addition to the eight Vince Lombardi Trophies from the San Francisco 49ers and the Oakland Raiders, the 50 Tour highlighted Super Bowl 50’s commitment to improving educational and physical-activity opportunities for youth in the Bay Area.
The 50 Tour was anchored by the Chevron STEM Zone, an interactive space that demonstrated how science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fuels innovation all around us – through the lens of football. By interacting with the exhibits, participants learned how the principles of STEM are intertwined with the game of football in ways they may not have considered. Chevron is gearing up to amplify the importance of STEM education with a larger, hands-on STEM Zone activation highlighting STEM innovations in football at Super Bowl City during the week leading up to the Super Bowl.
Chevron’s investment in the 50 Tour also enabled the creation of a large kids’ zone featuring The Re(a)d Zone, a family-friendly space designed to encourage a love for reading, with access to thousands of digital titles and learning games. Part of the Host Committee’s early literacy initiative focused on increasing third-grade proficiency throughout the Bay Area, The Re(a)d Zone provides a quiet place to read and features NFL Legends and Bay Area champions hosting reading hours, including Dana Stubblefield, Guy McIntyre, Eric Wright and Kristi Yamaguchi.
